BLK + GRN: Introduce yourself & why you do what you do. CHANTEL: I am Chantel Powell: a wife, mother and smallbusiness owner. I had the misfortune of getting a whiff of my six-year-old son after basketball camp and football practice (he smelled like a grown man!). It was clear to me that the solution was a natural deodorant concoction since I didn't see any safe, natural deodorants for kids so alas, Play Pits was created. BLK + GRN: Describe the inception of your brand. When did your vision start to manifest? CHANTEL: The beginning stages of experimenting with Play Pits deodorant July 2017 and by March 2018, formulas were finalized and launched! Creating a product that is effective and safe provides an irreplaceable peace of mind.
BLK + GRN: How is your brand green? Why was this important to you? CHANTEL: All of Play Pits’ products are 100% natural. My family members have skin issues – and I know we’re not alone – so having chemical free products is important. BLK + GRN: Why do you think it is important to buy Black? CHANTEL: As a Black woman, it’s important to spend money where I know my dollar is valued. I’m supporting businesses that understand appreciate Black culture. I have confidence that the products + services I purchase were made with me in mind.
