Gratitude can transform your life. It’s just that simple. Becoming grateful has the potential to change every aspect of who you are as an individual and what you get out of life. Becoming grateful means being aware of every good thing in your life. Once you have that level of gratitude, you’ll also be joyful. Because you’ll be able to see how much you have and how full your life really is.
The first step to becoming grateful is to acknowledge all of the good that you have in your life. Many things we have we’ve become blind to. Even the gift of life and breath can get lost while going about your everyday activities.
It’s common to “wake up” overwhelmed, so preoccupied by a to-do list or the troubles of yesterday that you miss the fact that you’re here another day.
Close your eyes. Put down your phone. Take a deep breath from your diaphragm and allow your thoughts to quiet for a moment.
Once you open your eyes, take another deep cleansing breath.
Sometimes, all it takes is a gentle reminder to find your gratitude.
A simple exercise to accomplish this is to really take an inventory of your life.
Imagine if you woke up tomorrow and had nothing or no one and you were completely alone.
What things or people would you want to regain first?
Write down a list of what comes to mind immediately. Don’t stop until your list feels complete.
Hold on to the feeling of gratitude that you have right now. Allow it to permeate every fiber of your being.
If you need a reminder of this feeling, paint your nails in gratitude as you meditate on your personal gratitude list. Take it with you.
May the adornment of gratitude on your nails be a reflection of the gratitude that resides in your heart.
