This week, we’re talking to Annya ‘Annie’ White-Brown, of NaturalAnnie Essentials, who is on a personal mission to help women look and feel their best through the internal and external power of essential oils.
BLK+GRN: Who are you and why do you do what you do?
ANNYA: I’m Annie *waves – HOWDY!* maker and owner at NaturalAnnie Essentials. Naturalannie Essentials is my vision for an intoxicating sensory experience of lusciously scented soy candles and the best aromatherapy body products!
My products are filled with herbs, flowers, and oils & are easily incorporated into your daily life. All products are made in small batches to ensure freshness, purity, and effectiveness. They contain absolutely no nasty chemicals. That means no parabens, no sulfates, no phthalates, no weird dyes or fake perfumes, and the products are never tested on animals.
BLKGRN: What was your “Aha Moment” and when did your vision start to manifest?
ANNYA: When my first daughter Tiffany was born with Spina Bifida and Hydrocephalus, I turned to natural remedies to help her skin. Essential oils and herbs are some of the most ancient and powerful remedies available to us, so I started to think about how they could be utilized for her skin and hair care. My passion and knowledge grew and in 2014 I decided to channel them into developing my unique brand…and so NaturalAnnie Essentials burst into life!
BLK+GRN: How is your brand green? Why was this important to you?
ANNYA: We are green as we source only the best essential oils, raw butters, oils, and waxes for our products. This was important to me as we experienced firsthand how generic products can alter our skin. I wanted a change for my household and this change I am happy to share with others through my products.
BLK+GRN: Why do you think it is important to Buy Black?
ANNYA: It is important to buy black because for years we have been underrepresented and the time has come where we can get pretty much any product from a black-owned company that caters directly to us, for us, by us.
